Voters in the Lincoln and Omaha media markets should know that Chris Backemeyer hasn’t lived in Nebraska since 1998, the last time the Huskers won a national championship. He doesn’t pay Nebraska property taxes. He owns a $1 million home in Washington, D.C., but refuses to buy a house in Nebraska. While in D.C., he worked for Kamala Harris, pushing radical Green New Deal policies. And he refused to sign the Fairness for Girls pledge, a commitment to keep girls’ sports for girls, so that boys can’t take female athletes’ spots on the team, their medals, or their scholarships.
Nebraskans should also know that Mike Flood voted to increase the Child Tax Credit to $2,200 per child and index it to inflation, so it never loses value. He also worked hard to pass a House farm bill that ensures year-round E-15, ends the Death Tax, and protects federal crop insurance for future generations.
Rural Republican voters outside Sarpy and Lancaster counties need to turn out. Mike Flood has been a champion for rural communities, and he signed the Fairness for Girls pledge. Chris Backemeyer did not.
